Description
Cetil is a prescription treatment for adult patients 13 years and older with mild to moderate pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by susceptible bacteria. It is indicated for the following bacterial infections:
— Upper respiratory tract infections such as ear, nose, and throat infections
— Lower respiratory tract infection, for example – acute bronchitis, pneumonia, and acute exacerbation of chronic bronchitis.
— Genito-urinary tract infections such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, and urethritis
— Gonorrhoea
— Early Lyme disease in adults and children over twelve years old.
Cefuroxime Axetil is a prescription-only drug which is only available with a doctor’s prescription. Consult your doctor before taking Cefuroxime Axetil, as all antibiotic medications must be taken with a doctor’s prescription. Take care of all the precautions listed above.
Product Description
Cetil 250 mg should be for patients with known hypersensitivity to cephalosporin antibiotics. You should not take this antibiotic medicine if you have a known allergy to it or other cephalosporin antibiotics such as cefaclor, cefixime, cefdinir, cefditoren, cefprozil, ceftazidime, cefuroxime, or others.
Before taking Cefuroxime Axetil, let your doctor know if you have a history of any of these conditions: liver or kidney disease, a stomach or intestinal disorder such as colitis, diabetes, or if you are malnourished.
Cefuroxime Axetil is not expected to harm an unborn baby if taken during pregnancy. However, it is advised that you take this medicine with proper medical advice if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding woman.
A full course of Cefuroxime Axetil should be completed as prescribed, even if the symptoms have disappeared. Symptoms usually disappear before your body is completely cleared of the infection. Discontinuing the medication before the prescribed period can be harmful and can cause a drug-resistant infection later on that cannot be treated with common antibiotic medications.
Side Effects
Cetil 250 mg is associated with a low incidence of side effects and is generally well tolerated. The most frequent side effects are gastrointestinal, including nausea, vomiting, loose stools, and diarrhoea.
How to Use
The dosage may vary for different people and may depend on a range of factors like age, sex, drug allergies, or seriousness of the condition, among several other factors. Your doctor will determine your dosage after examining your condition properly.
Take Cetil 250 mg strictly according to your doctor’s advice or the instructions on the medication label to experience the best results. Do not alter the dosage unless your doctor advises you to do so. Also, do not take this medication after the prescribed period is over. Cefuroxime Axetil can be taken with or without food. Always store Cefuroxime Axetil in a cool and dry place. For most infections in adults, the recommended dose is 250 mg. The usual course of therapy is seven days. The medicine should be taken after food for optimum absorption.
