Description
Cipmox CV is an oral antibacterial combination of the antibiotic amoxicillin and the beta-lactamase inhibitor, clavulanate potassium. The combination accounts among the most widely used antibacterial agents. Amoxicillin has activity against a wide range of bacteria, including alpha and beta-hemolytic streptococci, Clostridia species, bacillus anthracis, and staphylococci species. The antibacterial agent is also effective against Escherichia coli (E. coli), many Pasteurella multocida.
Clavulanate is an inhibitor of beta-lactamase but has little antibacterial activity of its own. This beta-lactamase inhibitor is currently considered amoxicillin to extend amoxicillin activity by preventing its destruction by bacterial enzymes.
Product Description
Cipmox CV 625 should not be given to patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins, renal impairment, and a history of gastrointestinal diseases, especially colitis. Co-administration of acenocoumarin may cause an increased risk of bleeding. With allopurinol, there is a probability of amoxicillin rash. Cipmoc CV may reduce the effectiveness of the contraceptive pill.
