Description
Endace 40 mg is a prescription medicine used for patients with advanced carcinoma of the breast or endometrium. It should not be used instead of currently accepted procedures such as radiation, surgery, or chemotherapy. The medicine is also indicated for the treatment of anorexia (an eating disorder and serious mental health disorder), cachexia (a weakness that occurs in patients with chronic diseases), or significant weight loss in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
- In breast cancer
Endace relieves the symptoms of breast cancer, such as bloody discharge from nipples, breast lumps, or changes in the shape or texture of the breast. It contains the active Megestrol acetate, which affects the production of those hormones responsible for the growth and spread of breast cancer. It is also known to interact with other hormones or directly affect cancer to stop its growth.
- In endometrial cancer
Endace has megestrol acetate, a naturally occurring steroid hormone, progesterone. It helps to relieve the symptoms of endometrial cancer, such as lower back pain, abnormal vaginal bleeding, pain during sex, etc. It interferes with the production and working of those hormones in the body that are required for the growth and spread of endometrial cancer.
Product Description
Endace 40 is contraindicated in people with a history of hypersensitivity to megestrol or formulation ingredients. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should not use the medicine. Before taking Megestrol acetate, inform your doctor if you have diabetes, kidney problems, thrombophlebitis, or severe hepatic impairment. Endace is not generally recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years and is advised to be used carefully in elderly patients aged 65 years and above after consulting the doctor.
Side Effects
Endace 40 mg may cause side effects like high blood pressure and increased blood sugar levels, but they are temporary and usually resolves within a few days. If they persist, consult your doctor.
Other side effects include nausea, vomiting, heart failure, breakthrough menstrual bleeding, oedema, dyspnea, glucose intolerance, alopecia, hypertension, hyperglycemia, hot flashes, asthenia, sweating, rash, mood changes, carpal tunnel syndrome, and malaise.
How to Use
You can take Endace before or after consuming food. Make sure you take it at a fixed time to ensure consistent levels in the body. Follow your doctor’s advice when it comes to taking medicine.
