Glyomet GP (500+2) mg is an oral antidiabetic drug used to treat type-2 diabetes. It combines two medicines, Glimepiride and metformin, to help control blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Glimepiride is categorized under the drug sulfonylurea, which increases the insulin released by the pancreas to lower blood glucose. Metformin is a biguanide, which lowers glucose production in the liver, delays glucose absorption from the intestines, and increases the body’s sensitivity to insulin. This combination medicine is not recommended for treating patients with Type 1 diabetes mellitus.

You should not take Glycomet GP (500+2) if you have Type 2 diabetes. Keep taking the antidiabetic agent even if you feel well or your blood sugar levels are controlled. If you discontinue treatment without discussing it with your doctor, your blood sugar could increase, and your risk of diabetes-related complications (blindness, kidney damage, nerve problems, and loss of limbs) also increases. Side Effects
The most common side effect of Glycomet GP is low blood sugar. Make sure you recognize the signs of having low blood glucose levels, such as headache, dizziness, shaking, and sweating. You should know how to deal with it. To prevent this side effect, it’s important to have regular meals and always carry fast-acting sources of glucose such as sugar candies or fruit juice. Alcohol consumption can increase the risk of low blood sugar levels and, therefore, should be avoided. Other side effects of Glyomet GP (500+2) include nausea, diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection.
How to Use
Glycomet GP should be taken with food. Your doctor will decide what dose is best for you, and this may change from time to time according to your blood sugar levels.
Swallow the tablet with one glass full of water. This drug should be combined with a well-balanced calorie-controlled diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Continue to take medicine as long as the doctor recommends. Try to take medicine at about the same time each day to remember when to take the drug. Glycomet GP controls diabetes but does not cure it; hence you may have to take it for a longer period.
Glyomet GP should be used with caution in patients with liver impairment. Dose adjustment is needed as per the liver function. The antidiabetic agent is not recommended for people with severe liver disorders.
