Metrogyl 200 mg contains the active ingredient metronidazole, which belongs to a group of medicines known as antibiotics. It works by destroying bacteria and parasites that cause infections in your body. It can be used to treat a variety of infections, including:
- Infections of the blood, bones, lung, brain, pelvic area, genital tract, stomach, and intestines
- Gum ulcers and other dental infections
- Infected leg ulcers and pressure sores

Product Description
Do not take Metrogyl tablets if allergic to metronidazole, nitroimidazoles, or other medicine ingredients. Signs of an allergic reaction include swallowing or breathing problems, a rash, and swelling of your lips, throat, and tongue.
You should strictly avoid taking Metrogyl tablets if the above applies to you. If you have any doubts, please talk to your doctor.
Talk to your doctor before taking Metrogyl 200 if you have had liver disease, kidney dialysis, or have a nervous system disease.
Please tell your doctor if you are using any other medicines. These include prescription, non-prescription, or herbal medicines. This is because metronidazole can affect the mechanism of action of other drugs. Also, some other medicines can affect the way Metrogyl works. Let your doctor know if you are taking any of the following medicines:
- Anti-coagulants
- Medicines used to treat epilepsy, such as primidone, phenobarbital, and phenytoin
- 5 fluorouracil for cancer
- Disulfiram for alcoholism
- Lithium for mental illness
- Busulfan for leukaemia
- Ciclosporin to prevent the rejection of organs after transplant
Do not drink alcohol while taking Metrogyl 200 and for 48 hours after finishing your course. Drinking alcohol during the treatment can cause unpleasant side effects such as feeling sick, hot flashes, headaches, and a fast or uneven heartbeat.
Side Effects
Stop taking Metrogyl and see your doctor if you get a serious allergic reaction. Symptoms include swelling of the lips, face, throat, and tongue.
Tell your doctor right away if you notice any of the following side effects:
- Severe stomach pain which may reach your back
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes. These could be symptoms of liver problems.
- Unexpected infections, severe tiredness, bleeding gums, bruising, and mouth ulcers.
Tell your doctor if you develop any side effects that bother you or persist for a longer duration.
How to Use
