Description

The medicine contains the active ingredient Amlodipine; a calcium channel blocker works to relax blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. The medication is also helpful in preventing certain types of chest pain known as angina pain. Its regular intake reduces the frequency of angina attacks. Norvasc tablets do not treat episodes of chest pain when they occur. For this condition, your doctor may prescribe other medication such as nitroglycerin to relieve attacks of chest pain as advised by your doctor.

Before using Norvasc 10 mg tablet, tell your doctor about the medical history of certain heart diseases, liver disease, or low blood pressure. The medicine may make you dizzy; therefore, it is best to avoid alcohol as alcohol can make you dizzier. Also, avoid e gaining in activities that require you to stay alert for a long period. Your doctor should also be aware of your surgeries and associated medicines if you have been using at the time of Amlodipine.
Side Effects
Flushing, light-headedness, dizziness, or swelling of ankles/feet may occur. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, immediately notify your doctor. To lower your risk of light-headedness and dizziness, get up slowly when rising from a lying position. Tell your doctor if you experience side effects like irregular heartbeat, fainting, or pounding heartbeat. Although the medication is useful in chest pain caused by angina. Some people who already have severe heart disease may rarely develop worsening of chest pain at the beginning of the treatment or when increasing the dose. Get immediate medical help right away if you experience worsening of chest pain and symptoms of heartbeat such as shortness of breath, pain in the jaw/left arm, and unusual sweating. Although, a severe allergic reaction is rare, however, if you notice symptoms such as rash, trouble breathing, severe dizziness, swelling of face, tongue, or throat.
