Do not use this drug if you are allergic to any of the ingredient of the drug including the active ingredient Sorafenib. Avoid using it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding because the efficacy of the drug on the new born baby is yet to be determined, have heart disease, high blood pressure, have haemophilia, have any kind of allergies, have breathing or any lung problems or if you are on prescribed blood thinners etc. Are there any possible drug interactions?

Certain drug may react with Sorafenib to cause serious health issues and hence such drugs are often prohibited from use with Sorafenib. Ask your doctor for the complete list of the drugs to be avoided with Sorafenib. The common drug interaction includes Dexamethasone, Neomycin, St. John’s wort. Blood thinner (warfarin, Coumadin). Seizure medicines. Rifampin, HIV drug like Indinavir, Nelfinavir and Ritonavir, Nefazodone, Phenobarbital etc.

There are some side-effects of this drug Sorafenib, if you feel too much uncomfortable then see your doctor immediately. The common side effects include: Sore in mouth, Blood in urine, stools or in vomits and coughs, Chest pain, Dizziness, Dry skin, Weakness, Sudden loss of weight, Extremely high blood pressure, Various skin reactions, Tiredness, Change in eye vision, Muscle pain, Loss of appetite, Irritation, Diarrhoea, etc. The list is very long. Do not get alarmed by the list. You may /may not experience all of them. Tell your doctor immediately in the above situations.

Usually 400 mg twice a day is prescribed for an adult, but always take the drug on doctor’s recommendation. This medicine should be taken on empty stomach, one or two hours before any meal. Do not break the tablet, crush or chew it. Swallow the tablet as whole. Keep checking your blood pressure at regular intervals while on the drug dose. The tablet is usually taken two times a day. Take the exact dose, do not increase or decrease the dose without any recommendation from the doctor. Take the tablet at the same time each day, doing this will help you avoid any miss dose. Taking the tablet each day should become your habit until the time prescribed by your doctor. Take the drug for the time duration prescribed by your doctor. Discontinuing the drug before the complete dose may decrease the benefits of the drug.
