Description
Tiniba contains the active ingredient Tinidazole, an antimicrobial agent used to treat protozoal, bacterial, and parasitic infections. Tinidazole is like metronidazole and is likely to have similar uses and frequency of side effects. It is given orally to treat:
— Certain vaginitis
— Urinary infections in men and women
— Acute intestinal infection
— Liver abscess
— Certain bacterial infections
Use Tiniba 500 mg only under a doctor’s supervision.
Product Description
The use of Tiniba 500 mg is contraindicated:
— In patients with a history of allergy to Tinidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives
— During the first trimester of pregnancy
— In patients who have had a blood disease
— In people who suffer from organic neurological disorders
— In nursing mothers
Speak to your doctor before taking Tinidazole tablets.
— If you develop symptoms such as incoordination, dizziness, light-headedness, convulsions, and coordination disorders, discontinue treatment immediately and consult your doctor.
— Alcohol consumption should be avoided during treatment and at least three days after stopping treatment with Tiniba. This is because alcohol intake may increase the risk of side effects.
Do not take Tiniba tablets for longer than prescribed by your doctor. Strictly follow the directions given by your doctor.
Let your doctor know if you are taking any other medicines. Tiniba, like other medicines with a similar structure, may increase the action of blood thinners such as warfarin, dicoumarol, phenindione, acenocoumarol, and anisindione. Your doctor will make necessary dose adjustments to the anticoagulants if necessary.
Side Effects
Common side effects of Tiniba 500 mg are Headaches, vertigo, decreased appetite, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, itching, or inflammation of the skin allergic origin. Rarely does this medicine cause a serious and potentially fatal allergic reaction. If you develop a rapid onset of difficulty breathing, general malaise, or swelling of the face and throat, contact a doctor immediately.
While Receiving Tinidazole treatment, you may experience a vaginal infection.
How to Use
Always take Tiniba tablets exactly as your doctor has told you. Speak to your doctor if you have any doubt about the dosing regimen. It is advisable to take Tiniba with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects.
The recommended dose in adults:
— Vaginitis caused by Gardnerella vaginalis- four tablets daily, for 1 to 2 days.
— Urinary or vaginal infections caused by Trichomonas vaginalis- four tablets in a single dose Similar treatment is recommended for the sexual partner.
— Liver abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica- 3 to 4 tablets a day for 2 to 3 days
— Intestinal infection caused by Giardia lamblia- four tablets in a single dose
— Acute intestinal infections- 4 tablets a day for 2 to 3 days
— For anaerobic bacterial infections- four tablets on the first day, then two tablets a day for the next 4 to 5 days.
Tinidazole tablets will be taken daily in a single dose with food.
Talk to a doctor about the dose for children over 12. Administration to kids under 12 years of age is not recommended. The medication should be taken as a single dose with a meal.
In patients with liver failure- Caution is recommended, especially if the duration of the treatment is longer than five days. Please consult your doctor for more information.
In patients with kidney disorders- Dosage adjustment is not required in such patients. If you are suffering from a kidney problem, your doctor will tell you how long you will need to take Tiniba tablets. Do not discontinue treatment prematurely, as your bacterial infection may not be cured.
