Description
Volix M 0.3 and 500 mg is a fixed-dose combination drug containing two active ingredients: metformin and Voglibose. Metformin lowers the production and absorption of sugar and allows your body to use existing insulin better. Voglibose works by inhibiting the intestinal enzymes that support the breakdown of complex sugar into simple such as glucose. This prevents sudden hikes in blood sugar levels after meals. For use as an adjunct to diet and exercise in adult patients (18 years and older) with diabetes.
Product Description
Before you begin treatment with the combination of metformin and Voglibose, inform your doctor if you have any medical history of anaemia, heart problems, kidney disorder, liver disease, and seizures. This antidiabetic agent does not cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). However, when used with other antidiabetic agents like insulin or sulfonylureas, it may cause hypoglycemia. Also, tell your doctor if you are already following a restricted diet since the fixed-dose combination drug causes dehydration, kidney damage, and low blood sugar. Do not take the combination of metformin and Voglibose if you already suffer from a gastrointestinal disease such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Side Effects
Common side effects experienced by patients using Volix M 0.3/500 mg include vomiting, diarrhoea, bloating, constipation, flatulence, and decreased appetite. Talk to your doctor if they become bothersome or persist for a long.
How to Use
Take Volix M with food to reduce the risk of having an upset stomach. It causes episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or if you delay or miss a meal. Be sure to carry some sugary food or fruit juice if you develop hypoglycemia symptoms such as tremors, cold sweats, cool pale skin, and anxiousness. Monitoring your blood sugar level regularly while receiving the antidiabetic drug is important. Inform your doctor immediately if you develop deep or rapid breathing, nausea, vomiting, or stomach pain. This fixed-dose combination drug causes a rare but serious condition called lactic acidosis, defined as excessive lactic acid in the bloodstream. Do not discontinue treatment if your doctor did not advise you.
