Xafinact 100 mg is used to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease. Doctors prescribe it when levodopa alone (or with other symptoms) cannot control the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Xafinact contains the active ingredient safinamide, which increases the level of dopamine in the brain. This, in turn, decreases shaking, muscle stiffness, slow movements, and other associated symptoms of Parkinson’s disease.

    Product Description

Do not take Xafinact 100 mg if you have an allergy or have ever had an allergic reaction to Safinamide or any other ingredients in the medication. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, itching, hives, skin rash, stomachache, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, and swelling of the lips, tongue, and throat, which make it difficult to breathe and swallow. Avoid taking Safinamide if you are taking or have recently taken pethidine (a pain killer) and a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (used to treat depression, Parkinson’s disease, and some other conditions).

Do not take Xafinact tablets if you have a serious liver problem or disease or conditions that may affect your eyes, such as uveitis (inflammation inside the eye), severe vision loss due to diabetes, an inherited vision disorder, albinism (lack of pigment in the skin and eyes), etc. Safinamide should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Be careful while driving or operating machines until you know how this antiparkinsonian drug affects you. As with any other Parkinson’s drug, Safinamide may make you feel dizzy or lightheaded. If you have any of these symptoms, please avoid driving, operating machinery, or doing anything else that could be harmful.

    Side Effects

All antiparkinsonian drugs can have side effects. Sometimes they are troublesome, but most of the time, they are not. Your doctor will weigh the risks of using Xafinact against the benefits they expect it will have for you.

Let your doctor know if you do not feel well while taking this medicine. This medicine helps most people with Parkinson’s symptoms, but it may have undesired side effects in a few people. You may develop nausea, dizziness, sleepiness, cough, uncontrolled, sudden movements, accidental injury, anxiety, or nervousness. These are mild side effects and may resolve within a few days. Inform your doctor immediately if you notice vision changes, unusual changes in behaviour, and obsessive thoughts.

    How to Use

After two weeks, the dose usually increases to 100 mg tablet daily. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass full of water. It may be taken before or after consuming food. You may need to take this medicine for a long time. Don’t discontinue treatment without first discussing it with your doctor.
